New England’s premier cast iron stove, insert and fireplace manufacturer, JA? ?tul North America, plans on expanding it’s manufacturing plant in Gorham to include sheet metal fabrication.

In the first quarter of 2006, JA? ?tul North America will invest $1.2 million into sheet metal fabrication equipment, and an additional $500,000 over the next three years. The addition of sheet metal fabrication will also add an additional eight to 12 jobs to JA? ?tul’s already expanding work force.

“During a time when you see more and more manufacturers moving out of state and over seas, it is very satisfying to be able to work for a company that is committed to bringing jobs into Maine,” said JA? ?tul North America National Sales Manager James Merkel.

JA? ?tul North America recently moved from two buildings in Portland and Westbrook totaling 80,000 square feet, into the former Sebago Shoe headquarters in Gorham with almost 120,000 square feet. JA? ?tul’s new base will house corporate offices, product development, assembly, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution.

JA? ?tul has been designing and manufacturing quality cast iron wood and gas stoves, fireplaces and inserts since 1853. Known for fine craftsmanship and outstanding performance, JA? ?tul offers a full line of cast iron hearth products in a variety of styles, sizes, and colors.
