Joan Boucher is the Republican candidate in Ward 1 for the Westbrook city council. Her husband, Romeo, is a Westbrook native and former captain in the U.S. Army and Vietnam War veteran. Having lived most of her married years in Westbrook, Joan is aware of the problems and issues that the city faces as it navigates the challenging transition from the traditional New England mill town to the emerging multi-industry-based and diversified-population community in the hub of Maine’s economic growth region.
As a city councilor, Joan will bring to the job her tremendous work ethic, her sense of fairness, her ability to consider and balance future consequences with present decisions and her unwavering degree of integrity. She will research the issues, consider the arguments, take a position and express her views. Her biggest obstacle to winning the election is that she has no political experience – she is simply a Westbrook resident who cares very much about the present and future of this great city. She has no pretenses and no desire for power or glory. Her only desire is to serve the community, doing so with diligence, humility and integrity. I believe the city of Westbrook would benefit greatly by electing Joan Boucher to the city council.
