Garden Club to meet
The Prides Corner Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the Prides Corner Church, 235 Pride St.
Janet Boullie will present a program about cloth flowers. Guests and new members are welcome to attend.
WHS class celebrates 50th
Over sixty members and guests of Westbrook High School’s class of 1955 attended a 50th reunion on Sept. 16 at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport.
Jerry Brooks said an excellent buffet followed a social hour during which experiences and memories of the past were relived. Several tack boards held photos from the 1950s and were much appreciated by those who attended.
After the dinner, Class President Gene Waters chaired a brief meeting. Waters thanked all for attending this milestone event and for maintaining an unbroken series of reunions every five years since graduation Brooks read a list of the 28 members of the class who had passed away since 1955, and moments of silence and remembrance followed.
Elaine (Currier) Hryhor died only a few months ago after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Her husband, Ed Hryhor, and her daughter, Wendy Antonucci, were guests at the reunion and shared remembrances of Elaine and her devotion to the class over the years. Antonucci brought her mother’s extensive scrapbook that chronicled her experiences during those years in great detail.
Bob Ferron received a certificate of appreciation for his outstanding work as a member of the reunion committee for all reunions the has had. Marc Gousse, the current principal of Westbrook High School, and his wife, Jean, were also guests. Marc Gousse gave an interesting presentation on the high school’s past and its transition into the outstanding facility that it now is. He also honored Ferron with a very special presentation.

Rollins Fordham freshman
Keith Rollins is one of 2,000 freshmen this fall at Fordham University in New York, N.Y.
Rollins, a member of the class of 2009, is a student in the university’s College of Business Administration.
Family fun at Warren Memorial Library
The Cumberland County Child Abuse and Neglect Council in partnership with the Warren Memorial Library will sponsor a free family fun evening on 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct, 25, in the library, 479 Main St.
The public is invited to enjoy an evening that includes a happy hour of sandwiches and drinks from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and entertainment from Marcus Gale from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Marcus Gale and his “So Glad It’s Halloween” concert have been delighting children for years with singing, dancing, puppetry and lots of audience participation.
The Cumberland County Child Abuse & Neglect Council is a division of Youth Alternatives. It is comprised of members of the Cumberland County community, and promotes community awareness and public education about the importance of preventing child abuse by advancing safe, healthy, happy childhoods and positive family relationships.
Daughters of Isabella to install officers
The Daughters of Isabella will install its officers at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, in the St. Anthony’s parish hall.
Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served.
Legion Halloween costume party
The American Legion is holding its first Halloween costume party 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Legion hall, 17 Dunn St.
In addition to costume contests, the event includes a 50/50 raffle, door prizes, karaoke, a DJ, music by “The Untouchables” and a dessert buffet. Adult beverages with proper identification required.

Living Rosary at St. Hyacinth’s
The Sodality of St. Anne of St. Anthony’s Parish is sponsoring the 5th annual Living Rosary of Nations for Religious Vocations and World Peace at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, at St. Hyacinth’s Church on Brown Street.
The candlelight Rosary will be said in many languages by priests, sisters and parishioners representing the 13 area parishes. Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will follow with Rev. Reginald Brissette officiating.
Marilyn Foster, president of the Sodality of St.

Dwinell Universalist speaker
Rev. Jane Dwinell will be in the pulpit at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Westbrook Universalist Church, 719 Main St.
Ann Hartzler will play the organ.
