A 38-year old Buxton man was killed in a single-car crash on Monday afternoon, police said.

Dana Black of 95 Carl Road, Buxton, was pronounced dead on Waterman Road after his red 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup hit a guardrail at 4:12 p.m. Kimberly Emery of Buxton Police was the first officer at the scene.

The police report said Black’s truck was heading south on Waterman Road at a high rate of speed. He struck a guardrail and spun out of control.

Black, who was alone in the pickup, was ejected out of the passenger’s side window. Black’s license was under suspension for failing to appear in court, according to the report.

Buxton Chief of Police Jody Thomas said on Tuesday there was no reason to believe that alcohol was involved in the accident.
