This is just more proof that developers are running our city. What are our planner, council and economic development people trying to do? Maybe they would like it if the citizens would all leave and make more room for developers.

My property abuts the old Cumberland Oxford canal. A few years ago, I asked the city for help in cleaning the canal but was told it now belongs to the abutting property owners. I never got a deed to this property, but it is mine anyway. I’m just glad there isn’t room for houses or I’m sure they would be taking it back for some developer.

I have a question for these people. Why are the property owners taking a back seat to developers? I know I won’t get an answer because I have asked questions in the past and never heard any answers.

I am giving the council pictures of “FOR SALE” and “FOR LEASE” signs on buildings in Westbrook. Apparently these are not attractive enough so we have to have tall ugly buildings instead. If people were really eager to locate in Westbrook there are plenty of places for them without building new ones.

This is just a way to give them more money to spend, and they couldn’t care less what the people want. As long as we pay our taxes, everything is great. Refunding the taxes paid on these paper streets is not the answer. The correct answer is boot out the developers and concentrate on the people who have lived here all their lives and paid the high taxes in this city.
