Annual inventors banquet

The annual inventors banquet was held recently at the Frank Jewett School in Buxton.

Students in Ilse Burn’s gifted and talented classes thought of something they would like to invent. All of the students worked on projects to make their inventions.

The project detailed how their inventions worked and they demonstrated their work to fellow classmates and parents.

Surette on dean’s list

Noelle A. Surette has been named to the dean’s list for academic achievement during the spring semester at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H.

Havu St. Anselm graduate

Brent D. Havu graduated on May 21 with a degree in business in the 112th commencement exercises at St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.

Havu is the son of Theresa and Bill Havu.

Emery justice academy grad

Officer Kimberly L. Emery of the Buxton Police Department graduated on May 27 from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro.

Emery was one of 28 police officers who completed 18 weeks of study and training. The program included instruction in criminal and traffic law, domestic violence, firearms, sexual assault, first aid, crime scene processing and emergency vehicle operations.
