This picture shows a view of Main Street looking east from Carpenter Street. The large building in the left of the photo was the Vallee Block with smaller retail buildings to the right of it. The upper floors of the Vallee Block were destroyed by a spectacular fire in February 1942. Horses were still in use on the streets at the time for both transportation and commercial use, and one can be partially seen in the left of the photo.
