A Spring Street man is free on bail after being arrested by Westbrook police on drug trafficking charges on May 25.
Police said Brent N. Berry, 21, was arrested last week after officers executing a search warrant at his apartment found drugs and weapons as well as approximately $33,000 in cash.
Berry was charged with aggravated trafficking in cocaine and aggravated trafficking in marijuana, both felonies. Berry was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where he was held until being released on $10,000 cash or $50,000 suriety bail on May 26.
Police Chief Paul McCarthy said police seized $33,000 in cash, 7.5 pounds of marijuana, 3.5 ounces of cocaine, three vials of steroids, a gram of hashish, a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol with ammunition, a .357 revolver with ammunition and scales and other evidence of drug trafficking. Police estimated the street value of the marijuana at $22,500 and the cocaine at $10,000.
The Westbrook Police and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested Berry after a month-long joint investigation. Detective Patrick Lally made the arrest with assistance from Detectives John Desjardins and Tim Gardner and Officer Steve Pulsoni.
