The fire service throughout the country is experiencing a tremendous decline in people willing to become volunteer firefighters. The Westbrook Fire Rescue Department is not exempt from this decline in national voluntarism and is constantly searching for individuals interested in becoming an on-call firefighter. On-call firefighters are reimbursed by the hour of time spent responding to or training for emergencies.

Anyone interested in becoming an on-call firefighter can pick up an application at the Public Safety Building, 570 Main St. Basic candidate qualifications are a high school diploma or GED, driver’s license, 18 years of age, and city residency. For further information, you may contact Chief Gary Littlefield at 854-0654.
