This photo shows workmen demolishing the upper floors of the old Vallee Block located on Main Street at Bridge Street. A fire swept through the upper floors in February of 1942, and the building was renovated into a single story retail block with Vallee Drug Store, Tom’s Restaurant and Rocheleau’s Clothing Store as tenants. Aquatic Concepts and Edward Jones Investments currently occupy the building. The two story building to the left was also renovated into a single-store retail space and served as Carr’s Shoe Store and later Cornerstore Restaurant. It is now occupied by Chicky’s Fine Diner.
