Geoff deBree of Windham, a senior at Windham High School, has been selected to receive the 2005 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
Geoff is Valedictorian of his senior class, has been recognized by the teaching staff with many faculty awards and has been selected as a member in the National Honor Society and National Latin Honor Society. Geoff is also very active in sports as a member of the soccer and track teams.
Geoff, Ms. McAfee and other award winners and their principals attended an Honors Luncheon on Sat., April to recognize outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. Mr. McGowan and Mr. Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the Association. Geoff was a winner of a Richard W. Tyler $1,000 scholarship.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association of Maine’s school administrators.
