Contributing in a meaningful way to the continuing support of our schools to ensure success for all students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-e44e021b wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-4-font-size\">Why are you running?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-left is-style-short-red\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having spent nearly four decades as a Maine public school teacher and counselor, I understand what it takes to help students thrive. As a retired educator and grandparent of two current students, I am running for school board to achieve three clear goals: maximize student resiliency, support our educators and ensure every school has the resources needed to deliver educational excellence for all families.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-e44e021b wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-4-font-size\">What is the biggest challenge facing your area\u2019s schools? The biggest opportunity?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-left is-style-short-red\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like most communities, ours faces the challenge of adequetely funding public education. Creating a balanced budget that maintains quality staffing, academic programs and infrastructure is critical, and it requires broad community support.To achieve this, we must continually engage all residents, including those without children in the schools. Our opportunity moving forward is to build on the successful communication strategies that helped pass our recent building referendum.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-e44e021b wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-4-font-size\">A top issue for many parents is the age of Maine\u2019s school infrastructure. How would you address this issue locally from your position on the school board?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-left is-style-short-red\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I support the school board&#039;s current infrastructure goal. Moving forward, my focus will be on project oversight \u2013 ensuring the new middle school is built on time and on budget; long-term planning \u2013 maintaining a sustainable plan for ongoing school maintenance; and collaboration \u2013 partnering closely with the town council and building committees.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-e44e021b wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-4-font-size\">Do you think the state government is too involved in local schooling? Not involved enough? The right amount of involved?
