Current council vice chair.

Top Three Priorities

My top priorities are being thoughtful about how we spend while finding more ways to fund city needs without relying so heavily on residential property taxes and without postponing necessary investments that will only become more expensive later; making city government more accessible and responsive through better communication; and supporting economic development that broadens the tax base and makes Bath a more vibrant place to live, work and play.

Why are you running?

I’ve really enjoyed serving on the City Council and would like to continue the work. I think I bring a thoughtful and curious approach: I ask questions, try to understand issues from different perspectives, and work collaboratively to help the council make good decisions and make progress in Bath.

What is the biggest challenge facing your town/county? The biggest opportunity?

The biggest challenge I see from my City Council seat is the rising cost of running the city. Construction and infrastructure costs have grown dramatically, as have the costs of providing benefits for city staff. That puts enormous pressure on the budget and property taxpayers. Our opportunity is to think creatively about revenues, development and investments that can strengthen Bath over the long term.

If you could change one thing about how the town/county functions, what would it be and why?

I would make communication with residents more consistent, accessible and proactive. City government does a lot of work, but people shouldn’t have to follow every meeting or know where to look to understand what is happening and why. Better communication builds trust, invites more people into local decision-making, and leads to more informed decisions.

Do you support more development – i.e. more housing construction and business building in your town/county? Why or why not?

Yes. Thoughtful economic development can broaden Bath’s tax base and help relieve some of the pressure on property taxpayers. I’d also like to see development create more places for people to gather and things to do — third spaces that make Bath an even better place to live.

Current Ward 6 councilor and City Council vice chair, people and culture leader, parent of two, and active member of the Bath community.
B.A., Dickinson College; MBA, Boston College","voter_guide_candidate_years_in_municipality":"
[1186

post-12361","candidate","type-candidate","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","vg_party-non-partisan
["GET
