Previous Offices Held
State Representative, 2018-2022; State Senator, 2022-2026.
Top Three Priorities
Investing in resilient infrastructure (transportation, housing, working waterfront and high-speed internet), ensuring access to healthcare (including maternity care and nursing home services), and property tax relief.
Why are you running?
I love living here in Hancock County – we are fortunate to have neighbors who will lend a hand, vibrant communities and unparalleled natural treasures. It is my love of this place and its people that call me to serve. As your State Senator, I listen closely, work across the aisle and bring a commonsense, problem-solving approach to the State House. If re-elected, I'll keep showing up with the respect and responsiveness you deserve — because even when we don't agree, we're all in this together.
What is one way Maine is on the right track? What is one way the state is on the wrong track?
Maine is on the right track protecting civil liberties and keeping government out of people's daily lives. We're on the wrong track at the Department of Health and Human Services, especially on child welfare and healthcare facility closures. The next Governor needs to rethink how we deliver health and human services — I'm eager, along with many legislators, to partner toward better outcomes.
As one of several dozen legislators in your chamber, how would you make a measurable difference for your constituents?
As a constituent put it: “She brings a unique technical perspective and has shown an interest in learning new topics to support her work in the Legislature.” That means when someone brings me a problem — such as unemployment or veterans' benefits — I dig in until it's resolved. Sometimes this means passing laws; other times it involves working with a state agency. My work is driven by constituent concerns, not political parties or big money interests.
Surveys show the economy is the top concern of voters. What is a specific proposal addressing Maine voters’ economic anxieties that you’d work to make law?
Property tax relief is a top priority for me next session. As co-chair of the Legislature's Real Estate Property Tax Relief Task Force, I'm working alongside tax experts, municipal officials, and everyday Mainers to dig into the complex property tax landscape. Among the approaches we're weighing: expanding existing relief programs, fully funding municipal operations the state requires and supporting regionalization of services to lower costs.
