Top Three Priorities

Inflation: It's time to bring the time of owning a house back to Maine. This means working on town and state regulations. Reckless decisions over the past eight years have made it impossible for the next generation to stay in Maine and prosper. Healthcare: We need to rebuild rural healthcare; access to quality healthcare in rural areas is dwindling. No tax on retirement over 65, no tax on tips. I would also support a cap on veterans' and seniors' property taxes.

Why are you running?

Someone must protect our next generation. If we continue the way we have for the last eight years, the Maine we love will not survive. With very little affordable housing, our rural hospitals are closing; schools are falling apart and taxing our small businesses into closing. We need to rein in the spending in Augusta. We need a long-term vision for Maine. I know what's at stake. I will work hard to support systems that will meet the needs of rural Maine.

What is one way Maine is on the right track? What is one way the state is on the wrong track?

To get on track in Maine, we must support our local industries by preparing for the next generation. Maine must support technical and trade schools so blue-collar workers can thrive and carry on what was built in Maine for generations. We need to stop the nonprofits that have no business experience and face no consequences when they fail. Maine needs to rely on business leaders to create an economic strategic plan.

As one of several dozen legislators in your chamber, how would you make a measurable difference for your constituents?

Being elected the next Senator of District 22, I will prioritize reducing red tape and regulations that have strapped Maine's economic potential, cut burdensome taxes by making Augusta accountable and reform welfare. I will always protect and defend our Second Amendment rights and Maine's outdoor heritage. The Second Amendment is a cornerstone for Maine's heritage and values.

Surveys show the economy is the top concern of voters. What is a specific proposal addressing Maine voters’ economic anxieties that you’d work to make law?

By growing our economy, Maine will be attracting new industries to invest in our beautiful state. As a small business owner for over 40 years, I know how hard it is to retain good workers. We need affordable childcare for working families; we need welfare reform to encourage workers to return to the workforce. New investments in protecting our current small businesses will ensure Maine's future success. Creating opportunities for hard working Maine families will be my mission.
