One time in 2024, elected to be Franklin County Commissioner District 5
Top Three Priorities
1. Economic Development. When the mill closed, we haven't recovered from the loss of jobs and tax base. 2. County Budget. Providing the services for the people of the county while controlling the cost to the taxpayer. 3. Capital investment. Looking at the infrastructure of the county for repairs or upgrades so we are prepared ahead of issues.
Why are you running?
I grew up here and my family is still living in the area. I want them to have those same opportunities that I had. What I have learned is to give back. This is a chance to do that and make a difference in the future of the people and county.
What is the biggest challenge facing your town/county? The biggest opportunity?
Economic growth. If we don’t have growth. We can’t keep our young people here and we lack the tax base for future growth. The Jay mill site comes to mind. That place has the infrastructure needed for one or more businesses. That can boost economic growth for the area.
If you could change one thing about how the town/county functions, what would it be and why?
People knowing what the county does. I didn’t realize before I was elected all the functions the county operates: sheriff's office, jail, IT, regional communications (dispatch), emergency management agency, District Attorney's Office, deeds, probate and administration and the unorganized territory.
Do you support more development – i.e. more housing construction and business building in your town/county? Why or why not?
Yes, there is a shortage of housing for families, and for workers. It makes it hard for people to move here or a business to move here.
