Top Three Priorities

1. Making housing and homeownership affordable, including addressing the property-tax burden. 2. Strengthening Maine’s economy by supporting small businesses, workers and responsible development. 3. Protecting the services people rely on like education, health care, and strong communities while making sure government is truly held accountable for how taxpayer dollars are spent.

Why are you running?

I’m running because I love Waterville and believe it deserves a strong, capable voice in Augusta. I’m willing to take on difficult issues, ask hard questions, and do the work to find practical solutions. In my first term, I’ve shown that a legislator can take an idea from a conversation with constituents and turn it into meaningful change. I want to keep doing that work.

What is one way Maine is on the right track? What is one way the state is on the wrong track?

Maine is on the right track in recognizing that our housing shortage requires us to build more homes and rethink barriers to development. Where we’re getting it wrong is affordability. Building supply matters, but so do property taxes, energy costs and everyday expenses. If people can’t afford to buy a home, or stay in the one they already own, we haven’t solved the housing crisis.

As one of several dozen legislators in your chamber, how would you make a measurable difference for your constituents?

I measure success by whether my work produces something tangible for the people I represent. That means being accessible, solving individual constituent problems and bringing Waterville’s concerns directly into policymaking. It also means turning ideas into results. In my first term, I helped create new housing and consumer protections and brought a lot-rent stabilization model home to protect hundreds of Waterville households.

Surveys show the economy is the top concern of voters. What is a specific proposal addressing Maine voters’ economic anxieties that you’d work to make law?

I want Maine to tackle property taxes as an economic and housing issue. Rising taxes increase monthly housing costs, price families out of homeownership and can force longtime residents out of homes they already own. I would work to reduce municipalities’ dependence on property taxes by developing sustainable alternative revenue sources while strengthening targeted relief for homeowners who are being priced out by rising tax bills.
