Previous Offices Held
In 2022, I ran for Oxford County Sheriff and was narrowly defeated. I have not previously held elected office.
Top Three Priorities
My top priorities are restoring professionalism, building trust and strong community relationships; improving recruitment, retention, accountability and training; and ensuring taxpayer dollars are managed responsibly and ethically. I will build an agency that maintains consistent professional standards, provides a dependable service citizens can rely on and uses county resources responsibly and efficiently.
Why are you running?
I am running because Oxford County deserves a Sheriff its citizens and employees can trust. Throughout my career I have led with integrity, accountability, professionalism and fairness. I will work to restore confidence in the agency, develop and support our employees and strengthen community relationships. I will ensure the Sheriff’s Office is responsible with taxpayer dollars while providing a professional service.
What is the biggest challenge facing your town/county? The biggest opportunity?
The biggest challenge Oxford County faces is providing quality service across the large, rural area while maintaining the recourses required to address substance abuse and the opioid epidemic while dealing with workforce shortages and rising costs. Our greatest opportunity is collaboration. Strong partnerships with other emergency services, community organizations and businesses can improve public safety, maximize our resources and preserve the quality of life our residents deserve.
If you could change one thing about how the town/county functions, what would it be and why?
One thing I would change about the county government is improving accountability and transparency. Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is spent, how or why decisions are made and what their local government is doing for them to protect their interests. By establishing open communication, clear performance measures, consistent oversight and responsible budgeting, we will improve public confidence and trust, ensuring county government remains accountable to the people it serves.
Do you support more development – i.e. more housing construction and business building in your town/county? Why or why not?
Yes, when development responsibly addresses the needs of our communities. Oxford County needs affordable housing, good jobs and a strong economy. If done properly, development can expand our tax base and create even more opportunities for families and businesses. Growth must also account for the increased demands on infrastructure and public safety while respecting the identity of our communities.
