Top Three Priorities

Top priority is rebuilding and strengthening teamwork within the sheriff’s office by providing strong leadership, fostering culture of integrity, accountability and public service. We will develop leaders within the department and create a more team-focused atmosphere.  Oxford County will return to a place of accountability to our citizens, both in service and fiscal responsibility.

Why are you running?

I take great pride in the work I do and being a reliable resource of service. One of the most rewarding parts of my career has been seeing the positive impact that service, guidance and support can have on citizens and communities. Working as a mentor strengthened my commitment to helping others, especially young people. I am determined to make a difference by creating strong partnerships, building trust and ensuring that the sheriff’s office is valued as a source of support and leadership.

What is the biggest challenge facing your town/county? The biggest opportunity?

Oxford County faces drastic increases in call volume within 2100 square miles of coverage. With limited resources, we are in a place of required creativity and resourcefulness. The jail remains a constant challenge as the cost to house and care for inmates is steadily rising. We need to cultivate and foster better partnerships within communities to reinforce mutual aid, shared resources and accountability to tax payer dollars.

If you could change one thing about how the town/county functions, what would it be and why?

There’s a disconnect in understanding of county government and ensuring our citizens are knowledgeable about how we impact one another. We need to bridge the gap to better serve taxpayers and for county leaders to know how their management impacts those we serve.

Do you support more development – i.e. more housing construction and business building in your town/county? Why or why not?

I do not support the development of wild areas, as this is what makes Oxford County so attractive for living and recreation. I appreciate that affordable housing is an important issue. However, we need living wages to support our citizens’ desire to raise their families where they grew up.
