CONWAY, N.H. — A 17-year-old dog with cancer who ran away after being spooked by fireworks during the Fourth of July weekend in New Hampshire is back home after loggers, an animal shelter and others came to his aid.

Rocky, a shepherd mix, left his owners in Conway. WMUR-TV reports Debra Cameron of the Conway Area Humane Society took a call from a logger working near Maine on Thursday. He saw a dog who couldn’t walk well and seemed confused.
The logger, Jake Higgins, met Cameron and a shelter volunteer on his ATV at the end of a logging road to guide them into the woods. They found Rocky and took him to the shelter. He wasn’t hurt, just hungry.
Cameron posted a video of the rescue to Facebook. Someone recognized Rocky and called his owners.
