BRUNSWICK — Day’s Jewelers recently announced that company owner, Jim Corey, is now the store manager for Day’s Jewelers in Brunswick.

According to a news release, Corey’s career in the jewelry business began at a young age, working side-byside with his parents and six brothers and sisters at Robert’s Jewelry Store, the family business, in Madawaska.

Jim joined his brother, Jeff Corey, along with Jeff ’s wife Kathy and Mark Ford in purchasing Day’s Jewelers in 1988. Most recently, he was the store manager for Day’s Jewelers in Bangor. Jim has also served as manager of Day’s stores in Westbrook, Auburn and South Portland.

Corey said the thing he looks forward to most about being in Brunswick is to reinforce the Day’s culture of exceptional value and customer care.

“Day’s first opened in Brunswick more than 50 years ago,” he said. “Day’s always knew how to take care of customers and because of that, people have shopped with us for generations. I am looking forward to bringing the culture of that kind of ‘handshake’ business back to Brunswick. We run our business as a locally, family owned business and that’s the feel you’ll get when you shop with us.”

A graduate from the Gemological Institute of America, Jim Corey is more than just an owner. He’s also a highly knowledgeable gemologist. Jim has also been instrumental in the development of Day’s full e-commerce website, www.daysjewelers.com.

He said diamonds are his favorite because of the relationship you get to build with a customer. “The purchase of a diamond is emotional and it’s usually the introductory purchase that builds a lifetime relationship with a customer,” he said. “Whether someone needs technical information to help them make a decision or if they just need help feeling more comfortable with how they are going to propose, I like learning about the couple and showing them I understand that they are going through a life changing event and that Day’s is here to help.”

Corey also said that Brunswick residents can look forward to more jewelry events, exceptional everyday services, and more Maine tourmaline.

As a new resident to Brunswick, Corey said he is looking forward to meeting people in the area, finding the best place for a lobster roll, and just being on the coast to scuba dive, hike and bike.
