PORTLAND — Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, recently announced that 57 of its attorneys have been named to “Best Lawyers in America 2014.” Nine of the firm’s attorneys were ranked as a “Lawyer of the Year.”

Although only 5 percent of licensed attorneys in the United States and Canada are listed in Best Lawyers, 80 percent of Bernstein Shur’s shareholders were named in the referral guide.

Some of the lawyers from the Midcoast region who received recognition included:

— Gordon Grimes of Durham. “Lawyer of the Year” for construction law. He also practices in corporate law, energy law, and oil and gas law.

— Geoffrey Hole of South Harpswell. He practices in administrative/ regulatory law, eminent domain and condemnation law, land use and zoning law, litigation (land use and zoning, and municipal), municipal law, and public finance law.

— Arnold Macdonald of South Freeport. He practices in construction law, corporate law, and project finance law.
