The city of Sanford voted on Tuesday to elect Charlene Plante and Peter Tranchemontagne to City Council seats.
Plante is an Air Force veteran and a former cast member of the Discovery Channel reality TV series “Naked and Afraid.” At a Meet the Candidates night, Plante said she was running for council in hopes of “helping make Sanford the great place that (she knows) it can be.”
She won her seat with a total of 2,653 votes, according to the unofficial results released by Erin McMann, the city treasurer.
This will be Tranchemontagne’s second term as a Sanford city councilor. He has been a city resident for 50 years and owns and operates a small business. He keeps his seat with a total of 2,516 votes.
Meanwhile, Bob Stackpole will step down from the Sanford/Springvale City Council after three consecutive terms. Stackpole previously held a role on the Sanford school board for 15 years and has been involved in Sanford/Springvale politics since the early 1990s.
“It has always been my goal to make decisions based on the needs of the people of Sanford and Springvale,” he said at the Meet the Candidates night in October.
