Rachel LaSalle scored two goals, one on a penalty kick, to help visiting Cheverus defeat the Portland 2-0 in a girls soccer game Monday at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
The penalty kick came early in the second half. LaSalle made it 2-0 with about 20 minutes remaining.
The Stags improved to 5-6-1. Portland is 2-8-1.
SCARBOROUGH 3, WESTBROOK 1: Natalie Brook scored twice and the Red Storm (10-1) beat the Blue Blazes (4-6-1) in Westbrook.
Hayley Meehan added her first varsity goal.
Ava Bolden scored for Westbrook. Blue Blazes keeper Greta Krantz made 13 saves.
THORNTON ACADEMY 5, DEERING 1: Harlow O’Leary scored two goals, Ally Garland, Addi Gould and Malia Collins also scored, and the Trojans (7-4) handled the Rams (4-6-1) in Saco.
Addi Harris had two assists.
Matilda Freeman scored for Deering.

BIDDEFORD 4, MARSHWOOD 3: Emily Hussey scored the winning goal with an assist from Mia Mariello, and the Tigers (8-1-2) beat the Hawks (4-7) in South Berwick.
Addison Barrs, Rachel Lagasse and Kayla Magnant also scored for Biddeford. Mariah Villandry had three saves.
Isabel Rothwell, Megan Aceto and Laurali Shisler all scored in the first half for Marshwood. Makayla Cote made 17 saves.
SANFORD 1, GORHAM 0: Miranda Payeur redirected a shot by Hailey Payeur into the net with 4:26 left in the third quarter to lift the Spartans (9-2-1) past the Rams (5-7) in Sanford.
Evelyn Cole made three saves for Sanford. Eva Wandell had seven saves for Gorham.
MCI 5, MORSE 2: Charlotte Peasley scored two goals and Kelsey Pomeroy had a goal and two assists to lead the Huskies (8-5) past the Shipbuilders (2-9) in Bath.
Riley Williams also scored and Izzabelle Bertocchi made three saves for MCI.
Addie Cerbaugh and Laura Kelley scored for Morse. Audrey Taylor had an assist.
YARMOUTH 4, GREELY 1: Maya Nasveschuk recorded three goals and an assist to lead the Clippers (12-0) over the Rangers (3-5-2) in Cumberland.
Celia Zinman added a goal and an assist.
Evelyn Stewart scored for Greely.
