Bub’s Home Kitchen, known for its classic comfort prepared foods at the South Portland Farmers’ Market, is set to open in August a brick and mortar location on the second floor of the Portland Public Market House on Monument Square.
At that location, owner James Shaffer will sell the some of the same to-go foods he’s been selling at the farmers market, including broths; jarred goods such as salad dressings, jams and marinara sauce; and frozen meals such as baked pasta and shepherd’s pie.
He’ll also serve lunchtime items such as salads, pizza by-the-slice and soups for customers to enjoy at the market’s tables, inside or out. Shaffer hopes Bub’s can help reinvigorate the Public Market.
Bub’s will be open at the Public Market House location Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be card only. Shaffer will continue to sell his prepared goods at the South Portland’s Farmers’ Market on Sundays and at Fork Food Lab’s market on Thursdays.
