Seashore Trolley Museum also offers several special events for the whole family to enjoy throughout its operating season. The first event taking place this summer is Dino Trolley, to be held rain or shine Saturday and Sunday, June 28-29, and again Aug. 9-10.

Patrons can take a trolley ride on the museum’s heritage railway aboard the Dino Trolley to search for over 40 dinosaur silhouettes hidden along the railway. Riders are encouraged to spot them as the trolley goes by. Enjoy several fun activities for youth of all ages back at the museum’s Visitors Center and main campus, including:

Dino Big Dig: Search for dinosaur bones hidden in the museum’s very own archeological dig site.

Dino Egg Hunt: Search for dinosaur eggs filled with prizes across campus.

Let’s Explore Dinosaurs: A fun yet educational scavenger hunt across campus, learn more about five different types of dinosaurs and stamp a Dino passport along the way. Families with a fully stamped Dino passport get to enter for a chance to win a free 2025 family membership to Seashore Trolley Museum.

Frozen Fossil: Dig through ice (snow cones) to find a frozen dinosaur.

Craft in a Bag: Make it at the event or take it home.

Photo Station: Take a photo with a group or family to remember the day at the Dino-themed photo station.

Admission to the event is $15 per person and includes all activities listed; children 2 and younger admitted free. The museum works to avoid any potential crowding at its events by selling a limited amount of tickets for each trolley departure time.

Dino Trolleys depart at 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., noon, 12:45 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. Purchase tickets in advance at http://dinotrolley.eventbrite.com to guarantee a Dino Trolley departure time. Guests are encouraged to come earlier or stay later after the Dino Trolley ride to enjoy all of the activities on campus. The museum will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Ice Cream Night has become a summer tradition for many local and far-away families. Since 2022, Seashore Trolley Museum has raised more than $27,000 to support nonprofits in Kennebunkport, Kennebunk, Arundel and Biddeford through the event’s popularity following the pandemic and its “nonprofits helping other nonprofits” approach. The next family event scheduled at Seashore Trolley Museum this summer is Ice Cream Night. The fan-favorite event is held every Wednesday in July and August from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Guests are treated to a special evening trolley ride on the museum’s heritage electric railway through their wooded campus and an ice cream sundae with all the fixin’s.

Tickets are $12/each (children ages 2 and younger admitted free). Admission includes the trolley ride and ice cream sundae. Trolleys depart at 5:30, 6, and 6:30 p.m. Because Ice Cream Night is very popular, guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at https://icecreamnight.eventbrite.com.

he museum has selected nine benefiting local nonprofits, one for each of the nine Ice Cream Night events. The partner nonprofits receive 50% of all ticket sales during their associated event. The nonprofits will receive $6 for every ticket sold to support their mission.

The museum is open Wednesdays-Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Oct. 26. Patrons can see several transit exhibits, three carhouses showcasing restored trolleys, the Restoration Shop viewing gallery, a model railroad building, and more.

The museum hosts several other special events, including Daniel Tiger Visits Seashore (July 26-27), another Dino Trolley (Aug. 9-10), Pumpkin Patch Trolley (Fridays-Sundays this fall) and Happy Trolleyween.
