BlixxHorses has scheduled an Open Barn event for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, and Thursday, July 10.

According to a news release, the event is scheduled rain or shine and the public is invited to a “fun, memorable experience with horses. As leaders in non-riding programming, we offer opportunities to learn and enjoy horses through unique exercises and activities. This provides an enriching experience and better understand of domestic horse’s needs and behaviors so we can make their lives better.”
Summer is the most stressful season for horses, said organizers. Heat, insects and allergies can make life miserable for them and dangerous for riders and handlers. At BlixxHorses, the horses have comfortable shelter in a cool, dark barn. Visits during the Open Barn event will conclude with a refreshing watermelon treat for everyone including the horses. A groomed walking path is available to enjoy.
Cost of the event is a tax-deductible donation $25/person or $50/family of four (two children, two adults. Cash or check only. BlixxHorses is located at 5 Portage Way in Kennebunk.
