Alex Allain pitched a four-hitter and was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored, leading eighth-seeded Fryeburg Academy to a 2-1 win over top-seeded Cape Elizabeth in a Class B South baseball quarterfinal Thursday in Cape Elizabeth.

Michael Malia also drove in a run for Fryeburg (10-8), which advances to play fourth-seeded Medomak Valley in the semifinals. Allain struck out eight and didn’t issue a walk.

Finn Connolly hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh for Cape Elizabeth (13-4). Brady Inman went the distance on the mound, allowing eight hits and one earned run while striking out eight and walking one.

THORNTON ACADEMY 4, GORHAM 3: Jacob Fish drove in two runs, Brennan Tabor and Parker Bjorklund each had two hits, and the third-seeded Golden Trojans (13-4) gave coach Jason Lariviere his 100th career victory by downing the sixth-seeded Rams (12-6) in a Class A South quarterfinal in Saco.

Beck Edgerly went the distance for the win, allowing eight hits and a walk.

Mason Finck had two hits for Gorham, which scored three runs in the sixth inning.

GREELY 12, LEAVITT 1: Keeler Vogt struck out seven over three hitless innings and drove in two runs to lead the second-seeded Rangers (14-3) to a Class B South quarterfinal win over the seventh-seeded Hornets (8-10) in Cumberland.

Barron Silver also drove in two runs and Ben Kyles had a single and a double for Greely, which will host sixth-seeded Lake Region on Saturday.

BIDDEFORD 14, KENNEBUNK 3: Travis Edgerton drove in three runs, Dom Smith was 2 for 2 with four stolen bases and four runs scored, and the fourth-seeded Tigers (13-4) beat the 12th-seeded Rams (7-11) in a five-inning Class A South quarterfinal in Biddeford.

Biddeford score nine runs in the third inning against four Kennebunk pitchers, erasing a 3-2 deficit. The Tigers were aided by 10 walks and four hit batters.

Isaac Jensen had two of Kennebunk’s four hits off Gavin Haggett.

Biddeford advances to play No. 1 Marshwood win the semifinals.

SOFTBALL

WINDHAM 15, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Stella Jarvais and Chloe Edwards both drove in three runs, and the second-seeded Eagles (15-2) needed just three innings to defeat the 10th-seeded Red Riots (8-10) in a Class A South quarterfinal in Windham.

Jarvais was 2 for 2 with a home run, and Edwards belted a triple. Nola Bryant and Lydia Marden each had two RBI, and Addie Caiazzo was 2 for 2 with three runs scored.

Maegan Berry and Annie Soucy got the only hits for South Portland.

GORHAM 10, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Lucy Dubail and Winnie Dubail each drove in three runs, and the third-seeded Rams (14-3) scored five runs in the fifth inning to invoke the mercy rule against the sixth-seeded Golden Trojans (8-9) in a Class A South quarterfinal at Gorham.

Sawyer VonderHaar contributed a double and two singles. Bella McBrady, the winning pitcher, gave up four hits and two walks while striking out five.

Gorham advances to play second-seeded Windham on Saturday.

Allison Dattilo led Thornton with two hits.

FREEPORT 13, GREELY 12: Ciara Daly’s RBI single in the eighth inning capped a three-run rally as the fourth-seeded Falcons (12-5) eliminated the fifth-seeded Rangers (11-7) in a Class B South quarterfinal in Freeport.

Greely jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning and was ahead 8-3 until Freeport scored seven runs in the sixth, highlighted by an Alison Brown grand slam.

The Rangers tied it with two runs in the seventh, then got two more in the top of the eighth, setting up another Freeport comeback.

Daly finished 3 for 4 with three RBI. Isabella George had a single, a double and two RBI, and Celia Cobb added two hits and three runs scored.

Greely’s Katie Wallace was 4 for 5 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored. Presley Allard, Samantha Santerre, Sophie Smith and Mia Stewart each chipped in with two hits, and Allard had three RBI.

Freeport next faces top-seeded York in the semifinals.

ST. DOMINIC 11, RICHMOND 1: Emily Andrews tripled, singled and had two RBI to lead the third-seeded Saints (12-5) to a five-inning victory over the sixth-seeded Bobcats (7-10) in a Class D South quarterfinal in Auburn.

Chloe Croteau contributed a double and a single. Leah Shannon, Kassidy Cote, Cassidy Russell all had an RBI.

Madeline Andrews allowed four hits in the circle and struck seven in a complete game.

Brooklyn Hooper, Charlotte Crawson, Taylor Johansen and Samantha Leathers all had a single for Richmond.

LISBON 9, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 2: Sophia Bowie homered, tripled and drove in two runs for the third-seeded Greyhounds (13-4) in a Class C South quarterfinal win over the sixth-seeded Phoenix (7-10) in Lisbon.

Mackenzie Eaton and Aubrianna Bright each doubled and singled while recording two RBI for Lisbon. Brooke Norman notched two singles and drove in two runs, and Brynn Chase had three hits.

Eaton threw a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and four walks.

Devin Bryant and Rylee Turner each had a hit and drove in a run for Spruce Mountain.

Lisbon will face No. 2 Hall-Dale (15-2) in the semifinals.

CARRABEC 13, VALLEY 7: Aiyanna Tibbetts’ three-run home run gave the Cobras the lead and sparked a nine-run sixth inning that boosted Carrabec to a Class D South quarterfinal win over the Cavaliers in North Anson.

Fifth-seeded Valley (10-6) plated three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 6-4 lead. Tibbetts’ homer put fourth-seeded Carrabec (15-2) up 7-6, and the Cobras added six more runs in the frame.

Carrabec’s Amiya Tibbetts finished with a game-high three hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored four. Karen Baker had two hits and two RBI, and Ava Welch (double) and Josephine Scheve contributed a pair of hits each.

The Cavaliers were led by Liana Hartwell, who doubled and knocked in two runs. Delia Hill (double) and Karlee Cates added two hits apiece.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 10, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Rileigh Chase had a triple, a single and three RBI as the Mustangs (17-0) beat the Seagulls (4-12) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Monmouth.

Shannah Parsons allowed one hit, struck out 10 and didn’t walk a batter for No. 1 Monmouth, which advances to a semifinal against No. 4 Dirigo on Saturday.

Lila Poussard also had three RBI.

GIRLS LACROSSE

LINCOLN ACADEMY 10, MORSE 9: Mariam DeLisle scored nine goals and Ciara Stokes stopped three free-position shots in the fourth quarter as the second-seeded Eagles (11-4) edged the seventh-seeded Shipbuilders (8-7) in a Class C quarterfinal in Newcastle.

Zofie Day set up two of DeLisle’s goals and got one of her own.

Zoe Avery and Zoe Nicholson each scored three goals for Morse, Libby Reblin added two and Sophie Prager had one.

Stokes finished with nine saves. Morse’s Irelyn Lathan made 11 stops.
