Mike Farley, who won 273 games, six regional titles and four Class A state championships in his 20 seasons as Scarborough’s girls soccer coach, announced Tuesday that he is stepping down.

Farley said in an email that he has an opportunity to coach in his son’s club program in Florida.

“Florida Galacticos Soccer Academy was selected to participate in the MLS Next League and they need licensed coaches to run that, so they asked me if I’d be willing to coach my son’s age group and my son was on board with it, so I ran out of reasons to say no and had to make the tough choice to step down as Scarborough,” said Farley, who only lost 40 games and tied 19 others during his tenure.

Farley led the Red Storm to state championships in 2010, 2012, 2022 and 2023. Scarborough made another run to the state game a year ago before losing to Bangor, 3-1, to finish 14-2-2.
