How dare Sen. Susan Collins decry the decision of a New York jury to convict Donald Trump in the Stormy Daniels case? Was Collins in the courtroom every day to hear and weigh the evidence against the ex-president? Does she think that it’s acceptable to support trial by jury, a basic tenet of our legal system, only when she agrees with the outcome?
Sen. Collins has claimed for years to be an independent voice for Maine. But her response to the Trump verdict shows her true colors. She is in lockstep with her party in supporting a candidate who is now a convicted felon on 34 counts.
