A man was killed Monday night when his motorcycle crashed into a car in Dayton, police said.
Maine State Police and the Goodwin Mills Fire Department responded to a crash at the intersection of Route 5 and River Road in Dayton around 8 p.m., state police said.
The driver of the motorcycle, Ian Lajoie, 18, of Dayton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe he was attempting to pass a car in the left lane as it was turning left and hit the front driver’s side of the vehicle, the statement said.
The identity of the driver of the car will not be released, state police spokesperson Shannon Moss said.
In addition to the driver, the sedan had two passengers at the time of the crash. All three occupants of the car were evaluated at the scene and had no injuries, police said.
The crash remains under investigation by Maine State Police.
