I attended the May 15 Falmouth School Board meeting. Board members and administrators joked about financial literacy. I did not find it funny.
One task of a school board is to adopt an annual budget. This year, our School Board appeared to rubber-stamp a central office-favoring budget. Then, the board haggled with our highly skilled Falmouth educators over spousal insurance and cost of living increases to the embarrassment of our town.
We deserve a school board that is responsible to its community by actively engaging in the budget process, challenging school administration, and making hard decisions. The current board does not appear up to the task.
Analiese Larson and Emily H. Martin are committed, experienced and balanced. I will write them in on June 13.
