CLASS D

Who: North Yarmouth Academy (17-0) vs. Penobscot Valley (16-0-1)

When: 12:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: Deering High School, Portland

Outlook: The Class D final once again will feature a Northern team trying to wrestle the crown away from the Panthers. It’s been a fruitless endeavor so far; NYA has won three straight titles, and the Panthers have looked as formidable as ever this season. They’ve outscored opponents 93-8, including a 30-1 disparity in the playoffs. Angel Huntsman is a talented playmaker at the center of the Panthers’ attack, but supporting players like Michala Wallace and Leah Dube, a transfer from Lewiston who had a hat trick against Richmond in the South final, can go off. … The Howlers, though, are no pushovers. They’ve played more competitive games than NYA has, and they’ve won them. Lila Cummings, Holly Loring and Kaya Loring are a trio of threats who NYA can’t allow to dictate the game.
