In response to recent online posts regarding a splash pad and/or pool in our city:
I’m so sick of reading about “we’re going to go through some analysis for a pool at the Community Center” and whatever you’re doing with this splash pad.
In the meantime, the citizens – especially the children – have no place to cool off in this heat. We have so much construction and growth going on in our city, and it’s wonderful we have so much growth, but you’re losing perspective. The children of Westbrook need a pool that they can swim and cool off at in the summer. Protect the little guy.
Don’t forgot who lives in this city. There are still many pockets in our beautiful city that house low-income families. They do not have a camp, they cannot get to a beach. Some people have very limited options. When you’re a child your options are limited. This pool would again serve the entire city.
Take care of the children in this city by giving them back a pool. This is a protected environment in which children can cool off but also learn to swim. You owe this to our children. We’ve missed another summer with no place for kids to go.
