The City of Portland must do something to resolve the conflict between cars going to the Portland Transportation Center and those going to Thompson’s Point.

Passengers trying to catch scheduled buses and trains at the transportation center are missing their trips because of horrible traffic planning. Wednesday, July 13, was a case in point. We were driving our son and two grandchildren to the 6:33 p.m. Downeaster. We had allowed ample travel time and had no idea that some big event was taking place at Thompson’s Point. We were caught in absolute gridlock along the Fore River Parkway. They only made their train (the last one of the day) because all three jumped out of our car, grabbed their luggage, sprinted across the major street, and ran the last half mile to the train station.

Thank goodness we are a physically fit family. The situation is totally unacceptable.
