AUBURN — The deaths for two people found Sunday in an apartment at 49 Fourth St. were ruled homicides by the Maine Office of Chief Medical Examiner, Police Chief Jason Moen said Tuesday at a news conference with Maine State Police.
State police Lt. Randall Keaten of declined to say whether the two victims, Kelzie Caron, 21, of Auburn and Pierre Langlois, 21, of Connecticut knew each other.
At 11:37 a.m. Sunday, Auburn police and fire departments responded to reports of a cardiac arrest at the apartment building and found the bodies.
The cause of their deaths is not being made public at this time, Moen said.
The Auburn Police Department is assisting the state police Major Crimes Unit, the primary investigator on this case, and is following up on leads of persons of interest, according to Keaten, who spoke alongside Moen. Both maintain there continues to be no threat to the public.
Keaten declined to give physical descriptions of persons of interest.
Authorities are searching for a black 2018 Hyundai Tucson belonging to one of the victims, Keaten said.
Keaten said his agency is working with authorities in other states in their search for that vehicle.
