I attended a community listening session last week organized by North Yarmouth Select Board candidates Andrea Berry, Amy Haile and Kate Perrin. The leadership style of these candidates (collaboration, equity and inclusion) was evident in the event. I feel very hopeful about their commitment to listening and collaborating as we find common ground in discerning the future of our town.
Their website, togetherfornorthyarmouth.com, states, “We are committed to running an ethical, kind, inclusive and positive campaign for select board.” On their website, you will learn more about their backgrounds, which have clearly prepared them for these positions. They are endorsing each other for the three Select Board seats because they believe in the power of community, opportunity, diverse voices and communication. I continually see their values IN ACTION and have decided to vote for all three!

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
