Sexual Assault Respose Services of Southern Maine appointed a new board chair, vice chair, and secretary to lead SARSSM’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee. This brings the total number of board members to eight.
Prior to retirement, new Board Chair Barbara Dacri, who graduated with an master’s degree in Psychology and Counseling from Assumption College, and was former regional vice president of Caron Treatment Centers and longtime executive director of Crossroads in Portland. Darci brings critical nonprofit and board leadership experience and development expertise to SARSSM, as well as a deep understanding of the experiences of survivors of sexual violence. Darci will replace Interim Board Chair Noel Sullivan.
New Vice Chair Veronica Serrato, Esq., is a graduate of Harvard University and Boston University School of Law, former executive director for Boston’s Project Citizenship, and senior staff attorney at both Volunteer Lawyers Project, Inc. and Casa Myrna Vazquez, Inc. – New England’s largest shelter and advocacy program for survivors of domestic violence. Serrato will fill the formerly vacant vice chair position.
New Board Secretary Emily Ambrose, graduate of Cornell University, longtime and dedicated volunteer Helpline advocate at SARSSM, and current director of Strategic Growth and Culture at Energy Circle in Portland, brings marketing and communications expertise to SARSSM’s Board. Ambrose will replace former Secretar, Mary Esty.

SARSSM would also like to extend sincere gratitude to Noel Sullivan and Mary Esty for their board service and ongoing dedication to SARSSM, as they retire from SARSSM’s Board of Directors.
Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine provides free services in York and Cumberland counties to anyone affected by sexual harassment, sexual abuse, or sexual assault, through prevention programs, support, education, and advocacy.
