A Freeport brewery has earned accolades from San Francisco-based Good Food Foundation, which on Jan. 14 announced 244 national winners recognized for sustainability and social responsibility practices as well as exceptional taste.

In the beer category, Maine Beer Company won for its Wolfe’s Neck IPA. According to the MBC website, the flavor profile is “aromas of pineapple, mango, guava, coconut and orange. Notes of onion and garlic. Underlying toasted bread and pine.” It is available at the brewery, 525 U.S. Route 1.

Other Maine winners include Bixby Chocolate in Rockland for its Vanilla Crème Brulee and Josh Pond of Whiting for Strawberry Preserves.
