A car crash in Brunswick resulted in 45-year-old woman being transported to Maine Medical Center on Monday morning with non-life-threatening injuries.
Melissa Nottingham of Brunswick was driving south on Old Bath Road when she drifted off the street to the left, crashing a 2018 Ford Fusion into a telephone pole. Police are still investigating why Nottingham drifted off the street.
Police responded to the crash at around 8:50 a.m. and said the vehicle sustained heavy front damage. The telephone pole was also heavily damaged and needed to be replaced.
“Nottingham was wearing her seatbelt and the vehicle’s airbags were deployed,” Brunswick police said in a statement.
Old Bath Road was closed to vehicle traffic for about three hours while Central Maine Power replaced the damaged pole. The road is now reopened.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
