Brooke Gerry recorded 29 strikeouts and allowed just three hits while winning both ends of a doubleheader as Windham closed out its softball regular season by beating Portland twice, 4-1 and 10-2.
In Game 1, Ellie Wilson’s RBI single broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning. Gerry threw a one-hitter with 17 strikeouts and one walk, and also had two of Windham’s five hits.
Hannah Hawkes got the only hit for Portland.
Gerry was 3 for 5 with two RBI in the second game. Amanda Foss finished 3 for 4 with three runs and two RBI.
NOBLE, MARSHWOOD SPLIT: Lexi Volinsky hit a grand slam in the sixth inning and Molly Druge singled home the winning run in the seventh as Noble (9-7) won 7-6 in a doubleheader opener against Marshwood (11-3) at North Berwick.
Emma Labreck and Raya Anderson each had multiple hits for Marshwood.
In Game 2, Faith Tsakaris went 3 for 3 and doubled home the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, propelling Marshwood to a 6-4 victory.
Kiersten Davis, the winning pitcher in Game 1, had two hits for Noble in the second game.
SCARBOROUGH 12, BONNY EAGLE 1: Jordan Crosby went 4 for 4 and winning pitcher Jenna Giguere had three RBI to pace the Red Storm (10-3) to a win over the Scots (1-10) in Standish.
AJ Swett added three hits.
Solveig Marles had two hits for Bonny Eagle.
POLAND 7, SACOPEE VALLEY 5: Emma Bunyea’s go-ahead two-run single in the top of the seventh inning lifted the Knights (8-4) to a win over the Hawks (7-6) in Hiram.
Poland broke a 3-3 tie with four runs in the seventh. Khloe O’Leary finished with two hits and two RBI for the Knights. Gretchyn Paradis picked up the win in relief.
Elyse Guptill and Lindsay Fox each had two singles for Sacopee Valley.
BRUNSWICK 8, EDWARD LITTLE 6: Ellie Sullivan had two hits and two RBI and Blake Austin finished with two hits and two runs scored as the Dragons (9-4) built an 8-0 lead and held off a Red Eddies (6-7) in Auburn.
Maddie Emmert scored two runs and drove in two for Edward Little, which got two runs in the sixth and four in the seventh.
MORSE 15, MT. ARARAT 3: Camdyn Johnson blasted two home runs for the Shipbuilders (8-4) against the Eagles (3-9) in Bath.
Abby Carpenter and Haley Jackson also homered, and Carpenter added a double. Caitlin Bradford and each Anastasia Franz had two hits.
Jaden Lohr led Mt. Ararat with a pair of doubles.
BASEBALL
CAPE ELIZABETH 5, YORK 4: Gabe Harmon got his third hit of the game in the bottom of the seventh and scored from second base on an errant pickoff attempt as the Capers (8-7) beat the Wildcats (10-5) in Cape Elizabeth.
Cape Elizabeth built a 4-0 lead on an RBI single from Jake Tinsman in the first, a run-scoring single from Patrick O’Brien in the second and two runs in the third.
York’s Joe Neal hit an RBI single in the fourth. The Wildcats tied it in the top of the seventh on consecutive RBI singles from Alex Neilson, Hayden Henriksen and Austin Mather.
Owen Tighe was credited with the victory in relief after striking out the only batter he faced.
SCARBOROUGH 15, BONNY EAGLE 3: Ben Seguin drove in five runs as the Red Storm (12-1) coasted to a win over the Scots (5-7) in Standish.
Seguin collected three hits, and Peter O’Brien and Mason Porter each had two for Scarborough. Ryan Gambardella was the winning pitcher.
Nathan Morse led Bonny Eagle with two hits.
MORSE 3, MT. ARARAT 2: Chase Nicolino lined an RBI single to spark a two-run second inning and Gabe Aucoin drove in an insurance run in the fifth as the Shipbuilders (4-9) held off the Eagles (4-9) in Bath.
Aucoin threw a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and three walks, and also led Morse with three hits.
POLAND 6, SACOPEE VALLEY 1: The Knights (7-8) scored three runs in the first inning with the help of by RBI singles from Hunter Gibson and Grady Hart and went on to defeat the Hawks (11-5) in Hiram.
Hart and Mitchell Bean each had two hits for Poland.
Sacopee Valley’s Carson Black went 2 for 4.
EDWARD LITTLE 6, BRUNSWICK 5: The Red Eddies (9-5) scored four runs in the first inning and staved off a late rally by the Dragons (1-13) in Auburn.
Winning pitcher Drew Smith got the scoring started with a two-run double.
Campbell Cassidy pitched the seventh inning for the save.
Sam Masse hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning for Brunswick.
LINCOLN ACADEMY 9, ERSKINE ACADEMY 2: Lincoln (2-10) broke a 2-2 tie with seven runs in the fifth inning, beating Erskine (9-5) in South China.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE
GREELY 12, FREEPORT 6: Carly Ferentz put in four goals for the Rangers (8-2) as they took down the Falcons (8-2) in Cumberland.
Elsa Dean-Muncie and Lauren Dennen each finished with three goals, with Dean-Muncie adding two assists. Samantha Goldburg had a goal and two assists, and Abby Taylor also scored.
Meredith Feller led Freeport with four goals. Aynslie Decker and Megan Driscoll got a goal apiece.
