SCARBOROUGH — The Christmas season kicks off in town Saturday, Dec. 7, when Santa will visit and meet with children in Memorial Park.
There will be hot cocoa and goodies, live music, fire pits to warm up by, activities, a tree lighting, and, of course, visits with Santa himself. The Scarborough High School Chorus and Fiddlehead Chorus will be providing entertainment before the tree lighting, which is set to take place at 5:15 p.m. Visits with Santa Claus begin at 5:30 p.m. and the event is capped off by a fireworks show at 6:15 p.m.
The Scarborough Rotary Club will be providing hot beverages and goodies from On The Vine Marketplace and Sam’s Club, and Home Depot will be offering free build-your-own toy kits.
The park is located at 5 Durant Drive, directly behind the Municipal Building at Oak Hill off Route 1.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
