BATH — Bath police are investigating several attempted motor vehicle burglaries that occurred overnight around the Richardson Street, off Route 1.
Bath Deputy Police Chief Andrew Booth said someone rummaged through three to five vehicles but nothing was taken.
According to the police log, one of the attempted burglaries was reported in Lilac Street shortly after 9 p.m. Monday and two other reports came in shortly before 4 a.m. on Tuesday on Lilac and Richardson streets.
Booth reminds the public not to leave valuables in their vehicles and to lock their doors.
Many people who discover someone’s gone through their car but hasn’t taken anything don’t report the incidents, he said.
“They don’t want to bother us,” Booth said.
However, they can still provide police with useful information.
“We urge people to call us if they see stuff happening that just doesn’t seem right — like with people going down the street and pulling on door handles,” he said.
