SANFORD – Due to his spectacular start last Tuesday against the Upper Valley Nighthawks, Trevor LaBonte (York, Maine/Maryland) was recognized as the Week Six NECBL Pitcher of the Week.
LaBonte kept opposition bats off-balance throughout his 7.1 inning start and kept hitters from getting comfortable all evening long. He did not allow a single run and only surrendered two hits and one walk while striking out seven. LaBonte retired the first 17 batters he faced until Jack Zyska grounded a single into left field, breaking up the perfect game and denying the young right-hander of a shot at Mainers history.
After Drew DeMartino(Pittsfield, Mass./Hartford) and Darren Williams(Maysville, Ky./Eastern Kentucky) made the NECBL Honor Roll twice, LaBonte represents the first Moose to win the top weekly prize in 2019.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
