OXFORD — An  Otisfield woman died Tuesday morning when her car went off Gore Road, rolled over and struck a large boulder, according to Oxford Police Department Capt. Rickie Jack.

Lisa Leary, 52, of 203 West Andrews Road was declared dead at the scene, Jack said.

Leary was just over the Otisfield town line when her 1999 soft-top Volkswagen Cabrio went off the right side of the road and she apparently overcorrected, causing the car to roll over before striking a boulder, the officer said.

A passer-by spotted the car and notified emergency personnel.

The car was destroyed.

Jack was the first officer at the scene, joined by Officer Joshua Daley of the Oxford Police Department and Oxford Fire and Rescue personnel.

Maine State Police Trooper Dan Hanson is reconstructing the crash to determine the cause, Jack said.
