TURNER — Tom Warren tallied 15 of his game-high 26 points in the second half as the Morse High School boys basketball team surprised Leavitt, 80-68, on Friday in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference action.
The Shipbuilders improved to 4-12 and moved up to the No. 9 and final playoff spot in the Class A South Heal Point Standings.
Morse trailed 22-12 after a quarter, but rallied for a 35-35 deadlock at the half. The Shipbuilders grabbed a 55-54 lead on Leavitt (12-3) after three, then outscored the Hornets, 25-14, in the final frame.
Gabe Aucoin added a career-high 19 points in the win, while Arius Eich chipped in 13 (career high), Josh ter Mors 11 and Brogan Shaw seven. Warren had 17 rebounds, while Eich pulled in 11 caroms. Shaw dished out nine assists.
Wyatt Hathaway paced Leavitt with 24 points, followed by Cole Morin with 18.
The Shipbuilders were a solid 13-of-16 at the line, with the Hornets finishing 13-of-21.
Morse hosts Cony on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

The Hornets bounced back on Saturday with a KVAC win over the Dragons at Turner.
Hathaway made 15 free throws and four 3-pointers to finish with 29 points in the win.
Sam Sharpe paced the Dragons with 19 points, with Finn Mitchell adding 18 and Noah Cox 15.

The visiting Falcons received 18 points from Shea Wagner en route to a Western Maine Conference win over the Lakers in Naples on Friday.
Wagner tallied 13 of his points in the first half as Freeport (10-6). Toby Holt chipped in 14 of his team-high 19 points in the second half.
Mark Mayo led Lake Region (4-12) with 19 points.
The Falcons host Wells on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The visiting Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-point first-quarter lead and pulled away in Mountain Valley Conference action on Saturday at Richmond.
Hall-Dale led 26-12, 46-26 and 60-34 at the quarter breaks.
Ashtyn Abbott had a game-high 25 points, Austin Stebbins 15 and Alec Byron 12 in the win.
Richmond’s Calob Densmore paced Richmond (5-12) with 19 points. Kenny Bing had 12 rebounds and Ben Young 11 caroms.
The Bobcats visit Winthrop on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Girls basketball
FARMINGDALE — Iris Ireland had 14 points and 15 rebounds to lead Hall-Dale to a 49-45 Mountain Valley Conference win on Friday.
Seniors Olivia Bourque had seven points and five assists, and Grace Begin added six points and five rebounds on Senior Night for the Bulldogs (11-6). KK Wills scored a team-high 19 points.
Richmond (8-9) was led by Hannah Moholland with 19 points, Macy Carver with 14 and Bryanne Lancaster with 12.
The Bobcats host Winthrop on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Unbeaten Boothbay (17-0) received 20 points from Glory Blethen and 17 from Faith Blethen in a MVC win on Friday.
Ashley Abbott chipped in 13 points for the Seahawks.
Charlee Cox paced Lisbon, which fell to 3-14 and hosts Oak Hill on Tuesday at 7 p.m., with 16 points.

The host Ramblers started the first and third quarters strong in an MVC win over Wiscasset on Friday.
Jillian Schmelzer led Winthrop (13-2) with 14 points, while Aaliyah Wilson-Falcone added eight.
Sydnie Thayer picked up 13 points for the Wolverines (0-16), who visit Mt. Abram on Tuesday.

Temple jumped out to an 11-0 first-quarter lead and held on late for a Class D South win at Freeport on Saturday.
Deleyni Carr scored 22 points to lead the Bereans. Olivia Baker added six points for Temple (14-3).
Jordan Milano and Regency Sandy each scored six points for Pine Tree Academy (8-9), which hosts Seacoast Christian on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Unified hoops
LISBON — Logan Flewelling led the Lewiston to a 41-25 win over Lisbon on Friday.
Flewelling scored 23 points with two 3-pointers to lead all scorers. Breck Gagnon, Owen Vincent and Hawa Dooraw each scored six points for Lewiston (3-0).
Lisbon (1-1) was paced by Dawson Martel’s 10 points and Lynn Feely’s eight points.
Girls hockey
YARMOUTH — Gabby Benson scored the winner from Anna Chadwick with 1:08 remaining as Winslow/Gardiner (7-9-1) edged Yarmouth/Freeport (11-7), 3-2, at Travis Roy Arena on Saturday.
Chadwick and Lindsey Bell also scored for Gardiner/Winslow. Margaret Perrotta and Lizzie Guertler scored for Yarmouth/Freeport.
Gabriella Chambers made 11 saves for the win, while Allison Perrotta stopped 16 shots for Yarmouth/Freeport.
The Clippers will be home on Wednesday in a rematch with Winslow/Gardiner in the North quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m.
