FALMOUTH — Ainsley Bryant sank two free throws with three-tenths of a second remaining in regulation to lift the Mt. Ararat High School girls basketball team to a 43-42 Class A South victory over Falmouth on Friday.
The Eagles improved to 4-4 and hosts rival Morse today at 5 p.m. in a game moved up a day due to the forecasted winter story on Tuesday.
The Yachtsmen led throughout, claiming quarter leads of 12-10, 30-19 and 35-30.
Down three, Elsa Daulerio drained a 3-pointer to tie the game. But Falmouth answered from beyond the arc on a Chelsea Gravier trey to reclaim the advantage, 42-39.
Kyla Greenleaf scored for Mt. Ararat to draw the Eagles to 42-41. Bryant set up for a go-ahead 3-pointer, but was fouled. She missed the first, but calmly sank the final two at the line for the one-point win.
Grace Liedman matched Bryant with 10 points, while Greenleaf added eight and Theresa Breed seven. Gravier led Falmouth with a game-high 13 points.
At the line, Mt. Ararat finished 8-of-13, while the Yachtsmen were a perfect 4-for-4.
Brunswick 46

Rosalie White scored 16 points to power the visiting Dragons to a Class A South win over Cape Elizabeth on Friday.
Brunswick is 7-1 heading into tonight’s 6:30 p.m. home matchup with Lincoln Academy.
The Dragons led 12-3 and 16-15 at the first two quarter breaks, but fell behind 30-28 after three. Brunswick closed it out with 18 fourth-quarter points.
Charlotte MacMillan picked up 12 points for Brunswick, with Logan Brown and Emily Larochelle adding six apiece.
Brooke Harvey led the Capers (3-4) with 16 points.
Freeport 52
OOB 43
The visiting Falcons charged back with a strong fourth quarter for a Western Maine Conference win over Old Orchard Beach on Saturday.
The Seagulls (4-2) led 16-15 after a quarter, with Freeport (6-1) claiming a 28-27 halftime lead. OOB battled back for a 38-36 advantage heading to the fourth before Freeport reeled off 16 points for the come-from-behind victory.
Caroline Smith led the Falcons with 21 points, while Rachel Wall added 16. Hannah Spaulding nailed three 3-pointers for nine points, and Freeport finished 11-of-19 at the line.
Shani Plante paced OOB with 19 points.
Freeport hosts Poland tonight at 7 p.m.
Richmond 27
Monmouth 38
The visiting Bobcats saw their two-game Mountain Valley Conference winning streak end at the hands of the Mustangs on Friday at Monmouth.
The hosts jumped out to a 13-5 first-quarter lead. But Richmond clawed within four, 17-13, by halftime after a strong second quarter.
Monmouth (5-3) reclaimed control, holding a 28-18 advantage after three.
Kaeti Butterfield led all scorers with 15 points in the win, with teammate Libby Clement adding eight.
Bryanne Lancaster paced Richmond (2-7) with 10 points, with Hannah Moholland chipping in seven.
Boys hoops
FREEPORT — Gabe Wagner scored 14 of his 23 points in the first half as Freeport (6-1) raced out to a 49-22 lead and cruised past the Old Orchard Beach (3-4), 95-50, in Mountain Valley Conference action.
Toby Holt added 20 points and Thomas Elias chipped in with 10 for the Falcons, who visit Poland tonight at 6:30 p.m.
Ryan Crockett led OOB with 23 points, including 14 free throws.
Monmouth 65
Richmond 42
Connor Davies scored a game-high 22 points, and along with sharpshooting teammates Dylan Lajoie and Gabe Martin led the Mustangs to the MVC victory Saturday over Richmond.
Lajoie (16 points) and Martin (15) hit four 3-pointers apiece to help pace Monmouth (5-3).
Calob Densmore had 12 points, Nick Adams had nine and Kenny Bing scored eight for the Bobcats (1-8).
The Bobcats visit Dirigo on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

The Yachtsmen used strong second and fourth quarters to put away the Eagles in Class A South action on Saturday at Topsham
Falmouth led 13-12 after a quarter, but a 19-9 advantage in the second gave the visitors a 32-21 halftime lead.
Mt. Ararat (3-5) pushed back in the third, holding Falmouth (6-2) to just four points and closing to 36-32. Against the Yachtsmen pulled away in the final frame.
Jared Balser led the Eagles with 18 points, while Nate Taylor added eight points.
Michael Simonds scored a game-high 20 points in the win, with Nicco Pitre chipping in 15.
Falmouth finished 26-of-37 from the free-throw line, while Mt. Ararat was 9-of-11.
The Eagles host rival Morse in the “Coaches vs. Cancer” game tonight at 6:30 p.m.
Boys hockey
BRUNSWICK — Gardiner skated away from Sidney J. Watson Arena with a 5-1 Class B South victory over Brunswick Saturday night.
Michael Eno scored the lone goal for the Dragons (5-3), with Jacob Doring assisting.
Spencer Marquis turned away 16 shots in the loss.
The teams meet again Thursday, this time at the Camden National Bank Ice Vault in Hallowell at 8:40 p.m.
Girls hockey
ROCHESTER, N.H. — Sophia Santamaria scored with 3:43 remaining in regulation to lift York/Traip Academy/Marshwood to a 2-1 victory over an improving Mt. Ararat/Morse squad on Saturday.
“We are really improving every game,” said Eagles coach Jeremy Saxton, whose squad hosts Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Oak Hill this upcoming Saturday at 8 p.m. “Gabby Mason, a senior, was superb in goal. We lost to them 4-0 the last time we played them. We pulled the goalie with two minutes left and didn’t allow an empty-net goal. It was a solid effort.”
Mason had 26 saves, while Wildcats keeper Erin Gay turned away 21 shots.
Amber Card scored off assists from Camille Rowe and Megan Reed for Mt. Ararat/Morse’s goal.
Meagan Wentworth tallied a goal for the hosts.
