WELLS — The annual Winter Concert featuring kindergarten and begindergarten students from Wells Elementary School was held on Dec. 18.
The event was video recorded and will be shown on cable Channel 1301 in Wells and Ogunquit on the following dates: Jan. 4, Jan. 5, Jan. 6 and Jan. 11, Jan. 12, and Jan. 13, all beginning at 7 p.m.
The program featured many seasonal classics and other songs with the patriotic, “You’re a Grand Old Flag” as the opening number.
The concert was introduced and directed by music teacher Karen Taylor with songs and poems introduced by students, some of whom sang solo. Providing music for the show were accompanists David Taylor and Wells High School senior Matt Chase.
Near the end of the program, Chase was recognized for his dedication to the concert by Taylor and thanked in unison by the performers.
This year, scenes of a large town created by students in the art class of Jenna LaRoache-Parry were illuminated on both sides of the stage.
According to Taylor, this annual concert is part of the school’s kindergarten music curriculum.
