WELLS — The Town of Wells in partnership with the Wells Rotary Club is happy to announce that Wells HARBORFEST will be returning to Wells Harbor Community Park for the fifth year in a row and promises to be another great family fun free event with activities and demonstrations for kids of all ages.
HARBORFEST activities run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the park, 331 Harbor Road in Wells.
This year the Wells Rotary will be doing a traditional cook-out offering hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and ice cream for sale – all monies raised through sales will go to charity. You’ll find food trucks on site for those looking for something a bit different – Coast 2 Coast Caterers, Fuse Box Mobile Kitchen, Tasting Maine, and What A Wrap will awaken those taste buds.
Events include the Fisherman’s Catch 5th Annual Wells HARBORFEST Lobster Trap Toss World Championship and Morse Hardware & Lumber Lumberman’s Challenge Obstacle Course with an added Youth course this year. HARBORFEST wouldn’t be complete without Congdon’s The Great Debacle Doughnut Eating Contest – are you ready for the challenge?? All offer prizes and awards for top finishers. And let’s not forget Webhannet Bait & Tackle’s Kids Crabbing Activity – always a crowd favorite – will be there again this year too.
The Wells Chamber of Commerce Silent Auction runs from noon until 3 p.m. and you’re sure to find the perfect gift for that someone special or just for you. Tour the beautiful harbor with the Wells Water Taxi. Watch master chainsaw artist Ron Carlson as he turns a simple log into something amazing right before your eyes!
Kids can count on the Pirate Treasure Hunt, Steffen Garth’s R/C Drones & Helicopter Demos with hands-on competitions (and prizes), and Coast Encounters Hands On Discovery of Rock Shore Inhabitants. Knock Down the Flames with firefighters and or take on the Junior Fireman’s Obstacle Course from the Wells Fire Department.
Watch Wells Police Department officers in action as they put two of their K-9’s through their paces and Wells EMS will have their Distracted Driver simulator on site too – it’s an eye opener for new and experienced drivers.
HARBORFEST will have live music by Project Pyramid offering classic rock we all know and love as well as their original tunes that will keep you asking for more. Also new this year is the Northern Explosion Dancers who will be doing their clogging routines and there’s so much more.
