Pape Chevrolet has long been actively educating consumers and businesses on the sustainability benefits of driving electric.

The dealership has partnered with ReVision Energy in hosting “ride and drives,” in which consumers can learn about the technology, drive the vehicle, and even learn about home charging options and solar panels.

Pape encourages its employees to drive electric vehicles, and goes on the road to other Southern Maine businesses to promote workplace charging.

And once again this year, Pape will participate in National Drive Electric Week, the “nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today’s widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more,” in the words of organizers.

In 2017, all 50 states took part in the event. This year’s showcase will be held Sept. 8-16. (For more information, visit driveelectricweek.org.)

One vehicle that embodies the advantages of driving electric is the Chevrolet Bolt EV, which was launched in 2017. With no combustion engine, the Bolt is a Zero Emission Vehicle.

The five-seater car travels an EPA-estimated 238 miles on a single charge. Chevrolet notes that the Bolt can accelerate to 60 mph in less than seven seconds, “thanks to the motor’s 266 pound feet of torque that kicks in right in from the get-go,” Wheelbase Media explains.

“The tall roofline and squared-off body aid passenger comfort and stowage capacity, with the split folding back upright or flat. Special 17-inch Michelin Energy Saver tires help extend the EV’s range, as does regenerative braking,” Wheelbase adds.

And, here is a bit more incentive for consumers: a $7,500 Federal Tax Credit.
